Education and Personal History

Tsubasa has a broad technical background in chemistry and interdisciplinary experience spanning materials science and life sciences. While at Kyoto University, he conducted research on drug delivery systems (DDS) using polymer nanoparticles. He worked in an environment where medical doctors, pharmacists, and engineering researchers discussed their research with one another. This experience enables him to communicate effectively with inventors and professionals across diverse technical fields.

 

After completing his master’s degree, Tsubasa joined Saegusa & Partners, where he has been engaged in drafting and prosecuting patent applications in a wide range of areas relating to applied chemistry and materials science, including organic synthesis, refrigerants, batteries, and resin technologies. Leveraging his interdisciplinary background, he also handles patent matters in the life sciences field.

 

In 2026, Tsubasa joined the International Activities Center of the Japan Patent Attorneys Association (JPAA). He is particularly interested in European patent practice and serves on the European Affairs Committee, including participation in a project group responsible for communication and collaboration with European intellectual property organizations.
